Today is “Good Friday”. It marks the darkest day in the history of the universe. On this day, Christians everywhere pause to reflect on the crucifixion of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Over the last several weeks, I have been reflecting on the following passage:
“…Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.” – John 19:30b
Jesus of Nazareth died on a cross more than 2000 years ago to finish something. Jesus paid the price for our sin. He drank the cup of the wrath of God for you and me. The pathway to God the Father was completed. It was finished. It is still finished.
“After he had provided purification for sins, he sad down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.” Hebrews 1:3b.
As this verse implies, Jesus is no longer dead. He rose from the grave on the third day to triumph over death and to put all things under his dominion. We will celebrate that this Sunday. The holiday is called Easter. Without Easter, Good Friday would not be good. But because of Easter, Good Friday is a time of thankfulness. Thank you Jesus for being willing to go to the cross for me.
Do you know him? Has Jesus saved you from your sins; from the eternal punishment that comes from your sins? If not, you can know him today. You can know real love. You can make today a good Friday for you. Click on the “Get Real Love” link above to learn how you can be saved.
